What You Get When the Details Are Right
The difference between a memorable day on the water and a forgettable one is almost always the same set of things: crew quality, route knowledge, food, and honest communication. We pay attention to all of them.
Back to HomeSix Things That Consistently Matter
Local Route Knowledge
Seven years of operating the same coastline. Tidal patterns, anchorage quality, and interesting stops are part of crew knowledge, not discovered on the day.
Properly Certified Vessels
Marine Department Malaysia passenger licences are current. Engineering and safety systems are serviced to schedule. Documentation is available on request.
Regional Cuisine On Board
Meals are curated to the coast — Malay, Chinese-Klang, and fishing-village fare. Not catered sandwiches. Not packaged snacks. Actual food cooked with care.
Unhurried Pacing
Anchorage stops are generous. Nothing is optimised for speed. Guests set the rhythm within the day's framework. This is harder to achieve than it sounds.
Transparent Communication
Pricing is published without hidden additions. Weather cancellations are communicated early and handled with full rescheduling at no cost. No surprises on departure day.
Small Group Maximum
Ten guests per departure. Not twenty-five. Not forty. The vessel, its crew, and the experience are calibrated for a group that actually fits on deck comfortably.
Crew Who Understand the Water They Work On
The Wavemere team is led by a Master Mariner with twenty-two years of experience in the Malacca Strait and Selangor coastal approaches. The first officer doubles as a coastal naturalist with over a decade studying the mangrove ecosystems along this shoreline. This is not background dressing — it shapes the quality and content of every journey.
- STCW-certified officers on every departure
- Seven years operating the Port Klang to Cape Rachado corridor
- Nature interpretation on request — birds, mangroves, tidal activity
- Emergency procedures rehearsed quarterly
"The value of a crew comes out in the small moments — reading a squall line at the horizon, knowing where to anchor so the boat doesn't swing all night, understanding when a guest wants conversation and when they want quiet."
— Zainal Abidin, Co-Founder & Captain

Navigation, Safety, and Communication Handled Properly
Each vessel is fitted with AIS transponders, chart plotters, VHF radios, and EPIRB emergency beacons. Weather data is reviewed each morning from MMEA bulletins and confirmed against real-time conditions at the port. The systems in use are professional-grade, not consumer navigation tools.
- AIS, chart plotter, and dual VHF on board
- EPIRB and personal PLBs for crew
- Pre-departure weather assessment every morning
- MMEA mandatory safety inspection passed annually
From First Message to Final Berthing
We respond to enquiries within one working day. Booking confirmations include a clear summary of what is included, departure point, arrival time, packing recommendations, and payment schedule. On the day, the crew introduction is brief and practical. Guest briefings cover safety without being theatre. On return to port, there are no surprise add-ons.
- Enquiry response within one working day
- Full pre-departure information pack sent on booking
- No add-ons or upselling on board
- Rescheduling handled with no fees on weather cancellations
Food as Part of the Journey
Meals on Wavemere tours are designed around the regions visited. The half-day brunch features local pastries, sandwiches, and fresh juice. The full-day tour serves chili crab, fried mantou, and coconut pudding — Pulau Ketam cuisine eaten on the water near where it comes from. The overnight passage includes a full dinner at anchor and breakfast at sea. These are not afterthoughts.
What Each Tour Includes
- All meals as described per programme — brunch, lunch, or full board
- Soft drinks and water throughout the day
- Life jackets for all guests, fitted on boarding
- Towels for overnight passengers
- Snorkelling equipment where relevant (full day, overnight)
- Putrajaya pickup transport for the Transfer tour
Published Pricing, No Negotiation Required

Things You Won't Find Elsewhere
Pulau Ketam — the Stilt Village
Our full-day tour is the only scheduled tour that anchors directly at Pulau Ketam. The fishing village built entirely on stilts over tidal flats is an hour from Port Klang but a world removed from Putrajaya. We stop long enough to walk, eat, and look properly.
Overnight at Cape Rachado
The two-day passage includes an overnight anchorage at Cape Rachado — one of the oldest Portuguese-era lighthouses in Southeast Asia. Dinner at anchor with the lighthouse beam visible is an experience with no equivalent in Malaysian coastal tourism.
The Putrajaya Corridor Transfer
No other operator runs a door-to-sea package from the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya area. The ground transfer to Port Klang is organised by us, turning a complicated half-day into a single booking. Residents of the federal territory no longer need to arrange their own transport to the port.
Selangor Maritime Heritage Fund Partner
A portion of every tour booking contributes to the Selangor Maritime Heritage Fund, which documents fishing community history and funds mangrove restoration. We are one of two commercial operators with formal partner status since 2022.
